Workshop: CV Writing Skills and Image Creation for Interviews

On the morning of October 20, 2023, a workshop titled “CV Writing Skills and Image Creation for Interviews” was held at the E2 hall of Nam Can Tho University. The workshop was specifically designed for DNC students and aimed to improve their soft skills before they enter the workforce and begin their careers. This program was a collaborative effort between Nam Can Tho University and the Can Tho City Employment Service Center.

Nowadays, when interviewing for a job, candidates often focus on creating a strong CV and making a good impression. They strive to showcase their best abilities on order to impress recruiters. However, in order to truly stand out, candidates must also understand the recruitment methods used by the interviewer. This will allow them to demonstrate exactly what the company is looking for. Understanding the recruitment process and how it operates within the company is crucial for a successful interview. The workshop aimed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and soft skills to better understand employer expectations, create a comprehensive CV, and effectively respond to interview questions.

The speaker provided guidance on how to effectively present information in a CV, highlighting one’s strengths and choosing appropriate attire for an interview. Additionally, the  speaker discussed the importance of selecting appropriate photos and organizing information in a CV, including personal information, career goals, education, and work experience.

The interview process consists of three stages: pre-interview, during the interview, and post-interview. The speaker highlighted specific aspects that candidates should prepare for in each stage, particularly during the interview stage. To ensure a successful job interview, candidates should first familiarize themselves with questions that follow a fixed format. Additionally, the interviewer should

also provide guidance on how to answer unstructured questions. Following the interview, candidates should proactively inquire about the results and maintain communication with the employer.

The speaker emphasized that recruiters place a high value on candidates’ problem-solving abilities and research skills. As a result, it is crucial for candidates to showcase their expertise, have a thorough understanding of the position they are applying for, and possess relevant skills. Additionally, a candidate’s personality and attitude can be revealed through their responses and observed during group work activities. Employers  also place great importance on a candidate’s ability to work well in  a team and their attitude towards recognizing and correcting mistakes.

At the conclusion of the workshop, students engaged in a direct discussion with the speaker regarding recruitment issues. The speaker’s enthusiastic responses helped the students to gradually resolve their concerns and anxieties about post-graduation job searching.
