NAM CAN THO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS COORDINATED WITH THE YOUTH UNION OF THE PEOPLE’S COMMITTEE OF NINH KIEU DISTRICT TO PROMOTE WATER CONSERVATION IN 2023

On March 22, 2023, in celebration of World Water Day 2023 with the theme “Accelerating Change” to address the water and sanitation crisis, students at Nam Can Tho University collaborated with the youth union of the People’s Committee of the Ninh Kieu District to organize practical activities aimed at promoting water conservation throughout 2023. The aim was to raise awareness and encourage sustainable water-saving behaviors within the community.

Community Education and Outreach in Ninh Kieu District

Nam Can Tho University Students organized awareness campaigns on water conservation across 11 wards in Ninh Kieu District through social media platforms, posters, and leaflets to spread the message. They also conducted extracurricular classes to educate people about the importance of water conservation and practical methods to achieve it.

Implementation of Water-Saving Measures

The university encouraged the use of water-saving devices in restrooms and other water-utilizing areas within the campus, illustrated through vivid visual aids in public spaces. Additionally, the university monitored daily water consumption within the campus to implement measures aimed at minimizing waste. On December 12, 2023, Nam Can Tho University issued.

Notice No. 236/TB-ĐHNCT regarding electricity and water conservation, requiring all faculty, staff, and students to use electricity and water safely and efficiently, ensuring unnecessary electrical and water devices are turned off after working or studying hours.

Practical Water-Saving Activities

Nam Can Tho University students also engaged in hands-on activities such as repairing water leaks and advising households on effective water use. They participated in community projects related to water conservation and management, including cleaning canals and planting trees to protect water sources.

Furthermore, they took part in water-saving programs initiated by the government or non-governmental organizations. Besides, students were involved in research projects focused on water resource management to enhance water conservation and management practices.

Overall, these activities conducted by Nam Can Tho University students, in collaboration with the youth union of the People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu District, aimed not only to contribute to the protection of water resources but also to elevate community awareness about the importance of using water efficiently, effectively, and sustainably for the future.
