Overview

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15 aims to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt soil erosion, and stop biodiversity loss.

Vietnam is currently implementing sustainable management and utilization of forest resources in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 149/QD-TTg, which approves the National Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 with a vision for 2050. The overall objective for 2030 is to increase the area of protected and restored natural ecosystems, ensuring their integrity and connectivity. This will involve conserving biodiversity and using it in a sustainable manner to contribute to economic and social development in line with a green economy, while also actively adapting to climate change. The vision for 2050 is for important natural ecosystems, endangered species, and valuable genetic resources to be effectively restored and conserved
