The Center for Student Support and Enterprise Relationships at Nam Can Tho University offers free classes to enhance students’ soft skills

(CSS&ER) In 2023, Nam Can Tho University launched a free soft skills training program in response to the increasing importance of these skills in the globalized labor market. As students face the challenges of international integration, it has become essential for them to possess strong soft skills in order to succeed in their careers and lives. This program aims to support comprehensive student development by equipping them with the necessary confidence and preparation to tackle any obstacles they may encounter.

The soft skills program, organized by the CSS&ER in collaboration with the Youth Union – Student Association at Nam Can Tho University, offered a diverse range of courses that focus on essential skills, including:

– Communication Skills: Teaching students how to articulate ideas clearly, listen effectively, and persuade others not only boosts confidence in daily interactions, but also proves beneficial for interviews and presentations.

– Teamwork Skills: Training students on essential teamwork skills, including delegating tasks, managing time effectively, and resolving conflicts. These skills are crucial for successfully completing academic projects and performing well in future job tasks.

– Time Management Skills: Time management skills are essential for students to effectively plan, prioritize tasks, and manage their time. These skills are crucial for maintaining a balance between studies, work, and extracurricular activities.

– Problem-Solving Skills: Guiding students in logical and creative thinking methods to solve a variety of problems. The problem-solving skills enable students to excel in their academic studies and make effective decisions in their personal lives.

– Leadership Skills: Training essential skills such as decision-making, inspiring others, and team management is crucial for those aspiring to lead in organizations or businesses.

– Job Interview and CV Writing Skills: Teaching students how to prepare an impressive CV and present themselves effectively in interviews enhances students’ chances. This skill enhances students’ chances of making a positive impression on employers and finding job opportunities.

The soft skills program utilizes an interactive training approach, placing emphasis on student engagement. Classes were structured as seminars, workshops, and group practice sessions, enabling students to put their acquired knowledge into practice in real-world scenarios. Furthermore, the university hosted guest speakers, accomplished entrepreneurs, and alumni to impart their insights and mentor students in honing their skills. This provides students with the chance to gain valuable insights from those who have come before them and expand their professional networks.

This program will help students develop comprehensive skills. Furthermore, developing soft skills can also lead to increased job opportunities and career advancement.
