Students from Nam Can Tho University are volunteering to teach English to underprivileged children for free
English has become one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with its popularity extending far beyond its use as a mere means of communication. It serves as a bridge, connecting people and allowing them to explore and gain a deeper understanding of diverse cultures. In today’s rapidly evolving world, the importance of English has only increased, thanks to advancements in technology and innovation.
As part of the 2023 Green Summer Volunteer Campaign, students from Nam Can Tho University organized English classes for disadvantaged children in the local area. A team of over 30 enthusiastic and passionate students planned and implemented English classes at various schools, including An Binh Primary School and My Khanh Primary School.
In each lesson, the children learned English through engaging activities such as games, songs, and group exercises. The team’s innovative and dynamic teaching methods not only facilitated the acquisition of knowledge, but also fostered the development of communication skills and boosted the children’s confidence in using English. Furthermore, the volunteer team organized extracurricular activities to provide the children with ample opportunities to practice English in real-life scenarios.
This volunteer activity not only benefited the children, but also allowed Nam Can Tho University students to improve their soft skills in teaching, time management, and teamwork. Through these efforts, students contributed to spreading the spirit of solidarity and affirmed the role of youth in community building.
Thanks to the volunteer team’s tireless efforts, the children significantly improved their English proficiency and gained more confidence and motivation to strive towards their educational dreams. The Nam Can Tho University students’ volunteer English teaching program has left a lasting impression on the children in the local community.
