Nam Can Tho University supports free facilities and equipment for the community

Investing in facilities and modern equipment is crucial for the success of Nam Can Tho University. In order to create an engaging learning environment and foster creativity among students, the university has developed a magnificent campus with state-of-the-art facilities located in the heart of the Mekong Delta. Promoting investment in facilities and modern equipment not only creates a comprehensive learning and research environment for students, but also fosters lifelong education in society. This is achieved by serving the community and providing opportunities for agencies and units to utilize the university’s facilities free of charge for organizing programs, events, and seminars.

Specifically, from 2022 to 2024, Nam Can Tho University has provided opportunities for external units to host and carry out various regional and national programs. Some notable examples include:

On November 11, 2022, the MMMS 2022 International Conference – The Third International Conference on Material Machines and Methods for Sustainable Development – was held at Nam Can Tho University. The purpose of this conference was to examine and promote understanding of key elements related to materials, machines,

and methods that contribute to sustainable development. The conference aimed to take a comprehensive approach in supporting policymakers, industries, and researchers in  advancing local technology development towards sustainable development on a global scale, and to aid decision-making in adopting environmentally-friendly practices.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; People’s Teacher, Professor, and Doctor of Science Banh Tien Long, Former Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training and President of the Vietnam Association for Science and Technology Editing; Professor, Dr. Le Anh Tuan, Chairman of the University Council at Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Professor, Dr.  Kim Hyun San, President of the Asian Scientific Editorial Association; and Labor Hero, People’s Teacher, and Professor, Dr. Vo Tong Xuan, Rector Emeritus of Nam Can Tho University.

Along with professors, rectors, and presidents from the University Council of Vietnamese

universities, representatives from businesses and nearly 400 Vietnamese and international guests attended the event in person and online from various countries including Japan, Korea, China, India, Taiwan, Belgium, Russia, and Thailand.

– The Can Tho City Youth Information Technology Competition is an annual event organized by the City Youth Union, Department of Education and Training, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Information and Communications, Nam Can Tho University, and the Can Tho City Computer Science Association. For the past three years (2022, 2023, and 2024), Nam Can Tho University has been the host of the competition. The purpose of this competition is to promote the youth information technology movement, identify and nurture young information technology talents, and contribute to the development of human resources for the industrialization and modernization of Can Tho City. Through this competition, the Organizing Committee will select and train a team to represent the city in the National Youth Informatics Contest.

– On November 19, 2022, the opening ceremony of the first Scientific Research Conference among students in the Mekong Delta region was held at Nam Can Tho University. The conference was attended by esteemed guests such as Mr. Nguyen Ba Cat, Member of the Executive Committee and Deputy Head of the Central Youth Union’s School Youth Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hong Ha, Deputy Head of the Can Tho City Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Committee; Mr. Le Van Thao, Head of the Science and Education Department of the Can Tho City Propaganda Department; as well as leaders from various city departments and branches. More than 300 students from universities and colleges in the Mekong Delta region also participated in this practical event, which aimed to help students consolidate and expand their knowledge, promote creativity, develop critical thinking skills, and apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world problems.

– Honda UNI-LIVELY at Nam Can Tho University is a series of unique events and activities that combine learning, sports, volunteering, and entertainment exclusively for students. Co-organized by Vietnam Honda and the Vietnamese Student Support & Development Center, this annual event attracts over 3,000 students each year.

– On the morning of June 26, 2023, the Can Tho City Youth Union coordinated with various units to organize the launch ceremony for the “Exam Season Support” program and the “Green Summer Student Volunteer” Campaign in 2023. The event was held at Nam Can Tho University and attracted a large number of students from Can Tho City. This annual program has been maintained by the city for many years and holds great significance. It receives contributions from individuals and groups in various forms, such as providing tens of thousands of meals, drinks, exam materials, shuttle buses, and free accommodation to support students during their exams.

– On May 6, 2024, Nam Can Tho University organized a program to honor Vietnamese doctors who were admitted to the US medical residency program. The event also aimed to inspire Vietnamese doctors and students who aspire to pursue specialized training in the United States. Distinguished guests, including leaders from the Can Tho City Department of Health, Vietnamese doctors who have successfully passed the US medical residency exam, and parents of Vietnamese doctors, were in attendance. The program was also attended and reported on by news and press agencies. Dear teachers, doctors, and students of Nam Can Tho University and Nam Can Tho University Hospital, were also presented at

the event.

In the program to honor Vietnamese doctors admitted to the US medical residency program, Nam Can Tho University honored and awarded awards to 18 Vietnamese doctors who excellently passed the exam on recruiting US resident doctors.

– Nam Can Tho University cooperated with the Political Training Center of Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City to organize a political training class on Party awareness for those who want to join the Party. The training class aims to equip the elite masses with basic knowledge about the Party, understanding the process of birth and revolutionary leadership of the Party, and the glorious victories of the Vietnamese revolution under the Party’s leadership… On that basis, determine the right motivation to strive to join the Party.

Nam Can Tho University collaborated with the Can Tho City Red Cross to successfully organize the DNC Volunteer Blood Donation Festival. The event received an overwhelming response from over 600 students and lecturers, resulting in the collection of more than 300 units of blood. Blood donation is a selfless act in which individuals willingly give a portion of their own blood to help those in need. By donating blood, we ignite a spark of hope for patients who urgently require it.

It is a noble and compassionate gesture that demonstrates our love for others and our responsibility to the community. Moreover, it is a profoundly meaningful activity.
