Role Model of the Lý Tự Trọng Award – The Bright Revolutionary Path of Youth

In addition to leaving a good impression on everyone with his friendly appearance and warm smile, Huỳnh Quốc Thịnh (22 years old), Deputy Secretary of the Law Faculty Youth Union at Nam Can Tho University, has been actively organizing activities to support people in difficult circumstances.

Thịnh is one of 100 individuals to receive the Lý Tự Trọng Award 2024 from the Central Youth Union. In 2023, he initiated and participated in many programs, such as the journey “I Love My Homeland,” the summer camp “The Colors of Youth,” and the “Lighting Up Rural Roads” campaign. Thịnh shared that through volunteer activities, young people can better understand the hardships of others and, from there, strive to study, train, and contribute to themselves, their families, and society.

“Volunteer activities initiated by myself and the Faculty of Law Youth Union are held regularly to provide both material and spiritual support for underprivileged children and people in difficult situations in rural and border areas. At the same time, these volunteer models and initiatives aim to foster connection, resonance, and create a platform for union members, young people, and students to pursue the values of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty,” Thịnh explained.

“The path of youth is the revolutionary path; there can be no other way.”

For Thịnh, the path that youth should take is the revolutionary one, in which effort and sacrifice for noble goals will triumph over selfishness and self-interest. “This saying also reflects the confidence and determination of youth to rise above all circumstances in the new era. It is not just a call to action but also a source of inspiration for me and my generation to keep learning, training, and striving to contribute to national development,” he shared.

With his dynamism and determination in Youth Union activities, Thịnh has been honored with several awards, including the title of “Five-Good Student” at the national level in 2021, a certificate of merit from the Vietnam National Student Association in 2021 and 2023 for “outstanding achievements in student affairs and student movements,” and a certificate of merit from the Central Youth Union in 2023 for “outstanding achievements in Youth Union work and youth movements.”

“During volunteer trips to remote areas, I grew up a lot. I ate, slept, and lived like the local people in difficult circumstances. It was then that I truly understood and appreciated my own life more than ever. Those trips were also filled with affection, as the villagers treated us like their own children. Their sincerity and reluctance to say goodbye deeply moved us,” Thịnh recalled.

For him, choosing and staying committed to a noble ideal is not only a matter of self-motivation but also requires deep personal commitment. “I always set specific goals and work hard every day to achieve them, constantly learning from failures to move further. I always look for opportunities to contribute and create something meaningful for the community,” he affirmed.

According to Phạm Vi Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union at Nam Can Tho University: “Thịnh often comes up with ideas and initiatives that bring great value to students and the community. Typical examples include volunteer campaigns reaching remote, border, and island areas. At the same time, Thịnh constantly strives to learn from the experience of senior peers to improve himself further.”
