DNC – In order to implement the training philosophy of integrating theory with practice, the program aims to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills relevant to their future careers in the tourism industry. It also offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, familiarize themselves with real-world working environments, and practice professional operations at tourist sites, hotels, restaurants, and resorts. Through this, students are able to develop practical experience and improve essential soft skills that will support their future careers.
From October 27 to 31, 2024, DNC Travel, in collaboration with the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, organized a field training program for more than 180 final- year students as part of the “Tour Design and Operation” course under the theme The Echoes of the Majestic Central Highlands.
Throughout the journey and at each destination, students were assigned specific roles and tasks related to their field of study. This program served as an excellent opportunity for students to engage directly with the realities of the profession, enhance their expertise, and learn from experienced lecturers and professional tour guides. It also allowed them to practice tour commentary and other key tour operations firsthand. Thanks to the enthusiastic mentorship from the professional tour guide team of DNC Travel and the dedicated support of experienced lecturers, students were able to gain valuable lessons and learn how to handle real-life situations in a confident and professional manner.
In addition, the student group also had the opportunity to visit and admire the breathtaking landscapes of the Central Highlands. Throughout the 5-day, 5-night journey, the group traveled across several provinces including Dak Nong, Kon Tum, and Gia Lai, exploring and learning at some of the region’s most iconic destinations as followed:
- “Ta Dung – The “Ha Long Bay” of Vietnam’s Central Highlands”
- Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Academy
- Tea Hills – T’Nung Lake, also known as the “Eyes of Pleiku”
- Kon Tum Wooden Church, Rong House, and Kon Klor Suspension Bridge
- Mang Den town, with the majestic Pa Sy Waterfall, the Mang Den pine forest, the
historic Mang Den Square, and the sacred Khanh Lam Pagoda. - Buon Don tourism village – home to the mysterious Suspension Bridge
- Vietnam Museum of Ethnology
The trip was not only a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience, deepen their understanding, and enhance their professional skills, but also a meaningful occasion to strengthen the bond between lecturers and students through team-building activities and a memorable Gala Dinner. Despite short in duration, the field trip left lasting impressions and valuable lessons for each student. After the journey, students majoring in Tourism Management were able to accumulate practical knowledge and draw important insights that will serve them well in their future careers.
With such practical significance, DNC Travel is committed to continuously promoting and developing more interdisciplinary field training programs in the future-programs that are more innovative, creative, and relevant. These efforts aim to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing enhancement of training quality at Nam Can Tho University.
