Goal 12 aims to ensure sustainable and responsible production and consumption models that promote environmental protection and the efficient use of natural resources, while minimizing waste. It contributes to fostering economic growth and improving livelihoods for future generations. With the goal of preventing waste and leading environmental protection efforts, NCTU has announced a responsible procurement and consumption policy, which includes limiting waste discharge into the environment and enhancing the efficiency of waste reuse and recycling.

The University has also introduced a responsible waste discharge and recycling policy. Since its early years, NCTU has continuously implemented numerous research projects and applications on waste management and treatment, playing an active role in national and local waste management. It is also taking actions to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2045 and uphold hazard prevention policies.
