Under the plans of university council, with the goal of prioritizing training quality, Nam Can Tho University organizes numerous seminars and training sessions to improve teaching quality and evaluate learning outcomes to ensure set objectives are met. Among these, training sessions on designing learning outcome standards, measuring and evaluating the level of learning outcome standard compliance are always given attention and organized annually. This is especially important in the context of many changes in Ministry of Education and Training regulations regarding training program standards, development, evaluation and promulgation of training programs at various levels of higher education.
This year, the training sessions were conducted in two formats: in-person at the Online Meeting Room, Nam Can Tho University and online via Zoom platform. At the training session, the university was honored to welcome Dr. Tran Thi Thuy – Vice Rector of Nam Can Tho University, along with leaders, faculty members and professional staff from all faculties, departments, and divisions within Nam Can Tho University.
Previously, the university had invited Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Hao – a leading expert in the field of education quality assurance in Vietnam – to conduct training on “Measuring and Evaluating the Level of Course and Training Program Learning Outcome Standard Compliance” in 2023. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Hao is one of Vietnam’s first higher education quality accreditation assessors, with many years of experience in the field of higher education quality accreditation with domestic and international higher education quality accreditation organizations.
Training on “Measuring and Evaluating the Level of Course and Training Program Learning Outcome Standard Compliance” in 2023
Through the training sessions, experts presented knowledge and experience in developing and evaluating learning outcome standards for training programs and courses, focusing on the Ministry of Education and Training’s orientation regarding training program standards, development, and evaluation of training programs at various levels of higher education. Subsequently, faculty members, staff, and program leaders discussed by discipline to analyze objectives and learning outcome standards of current training programs. From there, they practiced making adjustments to align with Vietnam National Qualifications Framework, SMART criteria set (Specific – Measurable – Achievable – Relevant – Time-bound) and BLOOM taxonomy. Learning outcome standards for each program’s training must be benchmarked against Vietnam National Qualifications Framework to ensure requirements are met. Based on this, they practiced developing learning outcome standards for each course according to principles serving the completion of training program learning outcome standards.
With the goal of ensuring training quality, Nam Can Tho University Council, especially Dr.Lawyer. Nguyen Tien Dung – Chairman of the University Council and Dr. Tran Thi Thuy – Vice Rector always pay special attention to training, development and capacity building of staff and faculty. These training sessions are among many activities to improve teaching quality, evaluation and learning of faculty and learners within the university. After more than 12 years of establishment and development, to the present time, Nam Can Tho University has been recognized as achieving education quality accreditation (cycle 2) and ranked with 4-star UPM comparative rating. The university has always affirmed its role and position, becoming a trusted address in training and developing human resources in the Mekong Delta region in particular and the whole country in general.
