Nam Can Tho University Organizes Self-Defense And Protection Skills Training For Female Students

Perhaps the greatest concern for many female students when leaving their families to pursue education is not just academics or daily life, but their personal safety. The hurried footsteps on dark paths after evening classes, the cautious glances in unexpected situations… all of these sometimes become silent nightmares. The fear of being harassed, molested, or even suddenly attacked is ever-present, causing female students to easily fall into states of anxiety and stress.

Understanding this concern, Nam Can Tho University has organized specialized training sessions on “Self-defense and protection skills for female students”, as a practical spiritual gift for female students.

The program is implemented by the Student Support and Business Cooperation Center in collaboration with professional trainers. During the training sessions, female students are guided through many simple defensive moves that are easy to apply in practice, helping to enhance their ability to protect themselves in dangerous situations. Additionally, experts share psychological knowledge and smart situation-handling skills, contributing to building confidence, calmness, and initiative in social interactions. In the training sessions, the instructors not only teach basic defensive moves but also instill confidence and composure in female students when facing danger. Each small but extremely important skill includes:

  • How to protect yourself when returning from late classes, choosing safe routes, careful observation, and responding when feeling
  • Simple defensive moves to escape from restraint, maintain distance, and seek help.
  • Skills to recognize and respond to avoid molestation and harassment – a “mental shield” that helps students be more resilient in life.

Each piece of advice from the experts serves as a “soft weapon” helping students become stronger and reducing their constant worries.

Nam Can Tho University continues to maintain many other life skills programs such as fire prevention and firefighting skills, communication and behavioral skills, teamwork skills, career orientation… All are aimed at a common goal: helping students develop comprehensively and become more resilient on their journey of establishing themselves and their careers.

The University also organizes mock trial programs involving cases related to harassment and molestation of female students. Through this activity, students directly observe the trial process, learn about legal regulations, legal consequences, and social responsibilities regarding harassment behaviors. This is not only a vivid legal lesson but also a deeply humanistic reminder about respecting and protecting the dignity and legitimate rights of women and girls.

The “Mock trial” program provides legal knowledge for female students.

The Martial Arts Club of Nam Can Tho University organizes self-defense martial arts classes for female students, helping them acquire defensive skills and respond promptly in cases of molestation, harassment, or dangerous situations.
