Environmental protection has always been a key focus and ongoing commitment at Nam Can Tho University (NCTU). On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of World Environment Day (June 5, 1972 – June 5, 2024), NCTU collaborated with the Environmental Protection Division of the Can Tho City Department of Natural Resources and Environment to display recycled products at he Launch Ceremony for World Environment Day on June 5, the Kick-off of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, and the 2024 Children’s Environmental Protection Festival.
On June 2, 2024, the Launch Ceremony for World Environment Day on June 5, the Kick-off of the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, and the 2024 Children’s Environmental Protection Festival took place at Luu Huu Phuoc Park in Can Tho City. As part of the event, NCTU actively promoted awareness among faculty and students and contributed by displaying a variety of creative recycled products.

During the event,students and children brought along their recyclable waste exchange for gifts at 40 sponsor booths. The gifts included notebooks, pens, backpacks, green plants, stuffed animals, and more. In addition to the waste-for-gifts exchange, the organizers hosted a range of engaging games to boost awareness in a fun and meaningful way, including activities like waste sorting game, environmental-themed painting, “Kids paint with artists” sessions, toy swaps and donations, free health check-ups, giving away unused toys and clothes, magic shows, and games centered on recycling.

The event sparked genuine interest among the community and young people in managing waste, recycling, and reusing materials to safeguard our environment. Participants walked away with valuable insights and hands-on ways to protect the planet, thereby contributing to raising environmental awareness within the broader community.
