With the motto “Putting learners at the center,” Nam Can Tho University (NCTU/DNC) continuously strives to create a friendly – modern – humanistic learning environment. The university remains steadfast in its mission to train quality human resources, nurture young talent, and create conditions for all students, especially students with disabilities, to have opportunities to develop their potential, affirm themselves, and contribute positively to community development.

Over many years, NCTU has comprehensively implemented numerous support policies to accompany students with disabilities::

  • The university accepts applications from students with disabilities in accordance with regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training, ensuring that all young people have opportunities to access higher .
  • Students with disabilities receive a 30% tuition reduction each semester. In 2024 alone, NCTU provided over 220 million VND in support for students with disabilities studying at the university.

Alongside academics, students with disabilities are encouraged to participate in academic clubs, arts and sports activities, volunteer work, and cultural-artistic exchanges. NCTU focuses on investing in user-friendly infrastructure to ensure convenience and safety for students with disabilities:

  • Installation of modern elevators in academic buildings and
  • Wheelchair-accessible walkways, restrooms, and common
  • Provision of wheelchairs, mobility aids, specialized computers, and speech-to-text software to support
  • Availability of Support Persons to assist with mobility, note-taking, reading, and writing during examinations.
  • Learning materials provided in accessible formats (e.g., Word files, screen-reader- compatible documents), with captions and audio descriptions for videos, as well as early distribution of study
  • Adjustments to programs and examinations: Physical Education, National Defense Education, or courses unsuitable for a student’s health may be waived, reduced, or replaced. Students may also be granted additional time, use computers, take exams in quiet rooms, or be provided with flexible scheduling.

Beyond academic and infrastructure support, NCTU places strong emphasis on students’ mental well-being and community engagement. The University’s Psychological Counseling and Career Guidance Center is always ready to listen, advise, and assist students in overcoming challenges in both academic and daily life.
