DNC – Another Mid-Autumn season has arrived in every part of Can Tho. Since the early days of the 8th lunar month, Can Tho residents have been busily preparing for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a holiday but also carries deep traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese people. It helps preserve beautiful customs and traditions while strengthening community bonds. On the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, when the moon is fullest and brightest, people gather together to enjoy moon cakes, carry lanterns, and admire the moon. This is an occasion to express family affection, unity, and wish for good things.
The markets bustle with all kinds of lanterns in various shapes and sizes; along the streets, moon cake stalls displaying red and yellow treats create a vibrant atmosphere, signaling the approaching Mid-Autumn season. In this festive spirit, numerous meaningful activities have been organized, bringing joy to children and helping them experience a warm and complete Mid-Autumn season.
Joining this atmosphere, on September 13, 2024, the DNC Youth Club collaborated with Thoi An Dong 2 Primary School to organize the “Joyful Full Moon Celebration” program, bringing a warm and meaningful Mid-Autumn season to the children. The program was implemented with the goal of creating a fun and lively playground while gifting beautiful lanterns to help children have a truly special Mid-Autumn season.
From 11:00 AM, Youth Club members arrived at the school to prepare gifts, set up the stage, and organize the program. Everyone worked together to decorate and organize entertainment activities for the children before the program officially began. At 2:00 PM, Mid-Autumn fun activities and lantern decoration contests were held, creating a bustling atmosphere filled with laughter. Children participated in many educational games while showcasing their creativity with self-decorated lanterns and received special prizes.
Notably, the program presented 40 meaningful gifts to students from disadvantaged backgrounds at the school, along with over 100 portions of cakes and candies for children participating in the games. Though small, these gifts brought joy, encouragement, and motivation to the children during this year’s Mid-Autumn season.
Continuing this joyful atmosphere, on September 15, 2024, the Can Tho Student Union Branch collaborated with the Youth Union of Area 4 – Cai Khe Ward to organize a special Mid-Autumn night for local children. The children immersed themselves in the festive atmosphere with art performances by DNC students and engaging folk games. Especially, the children received lanterns, moon cakes, and many other lovely and valuable gifts, creating warm moments filled with love.
“Joyful Full Moon Celebration” is not merely a recreational activity but also demonstrates the spirit of sharing and love of the DNC Youth Club and Can Tho Student Union Branch. With the spirit of “young people doing small deeds according to their abilities,” they hope to use their youthful energy to create beautiful memories and contribute to a Mid-Autumn season overflowing with joy and happiness for the children. We hope that in the coming years, more meaningful programs like this will be organized, bringing joy to children.
